“Project Savings and Optimization with SidePlate® Connection Technology”

Presented by Ryan E. Smith, PE, SE – Western Regional Manager, SidePlate Systems Inc.

Join us for an overview of SidePlate connection technology including why and how it is used on projects across the country. Ryan Smith, a licensed Structural Engineer, will describe the evolution of lateral frame connection design for construction including the history of SidePlate’s development. The presentation will include several cost studies showing the economic benefits of the SidePlate connection, and will conclude with an overview of tools available to aid in estimating SidePlate projects.

Ryan is also tasked with educating design and construction professionals on the benefits of the SidePlate connection technology. Ryan supports SidePlate’s clients with implementing the SidePlate connection technology and understanding the value it brings to their specific projects. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, CA and his Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering from the University of California, Irvine. Ryan recently served on the Board of Directors for the Structural Engineer’s Association of Southern California.
